If its 'hitching' then there's more than a good chance windows needs flattening and re-installing, people should realise it needs doing every now and again as just maintenance task, I do min every 6months but I install and remove a lot of software all the time, mac users have know this for...
Meant to ask that actually, why do you have to go through PCS for BIOS updates? Seems a very mundane thing to get them involved in? (not trying to diss the idea, genuinely curious)
Well spotted @Scott I don't tend to look at the software, as I've no need to ever buy another Windows 10 license lmao, got enough of them against my account to run a small company :)
But yeah, Defender is the standard, don't let any company try sweet talk you into wasting CPU cycles on a 3rd...
That's a good point, reason my server is in a cupboard is the noise 😂
Got a custom loop dual water system, but the 240 rad isn't enough to be honest, need to put a second in at some point, this Xeons run frigin hot!
Makes life difficult though as have to use rdp rather than local access unless...
Don't want to add anything tonthr ointment, but remember that 4000 series is coming eoy and has a big IPC gain over 3000 series, and the x570 board will support those processors, but there is no guarantee trx40 will support the next gen thread ripper parts. Although 64core 128 thread is probably...
Looks good, should have no problems breezing through almost any workload upto RED footage, and will make a mac book look a little silly to be honest. An equivalenish mac Pro would be better part of 8 grand, just think of it that way (and still have a junk Gpu in comparison)
Like I say, if the case isn't your taste then that's fine, remember don't need all the lights on if you don't want to though, it can be stealth 😉
I'm the same, RGB is for kids, I'm too old for that stuff nowadays, plus blue Led's for some reason wind me up no end lmao, even so it's still a...
You will get more for your money with that special (it's 1800 quids worth of hardware for 1500, or 1400 if you don't need the windows license) it really is a good deal!
It won't be as quick on paper as an i7, but that's on paper, we are talking ms of difference, or maybe a second or two during...
Onboard AC97 is pretty good, I use two external sound cards on laptop, one driving microphone (as needs phantom power) one driving speakers (7.1 Atmos through Onkyo amp)
One of Microsoft best introduction was the AC97 codec, and getting rid of sound cards 😉
Just looked the fractal case doesn't have HD audio breakout built in. But like I say it's just a breakout box that can go in a 3.5 bay or pci slot cover.
The motherboard (450) doesn't have TOSLink on it either, I know the gigabyte x570 aurus elite does have TOSLink on it, not sure if that's an...
The HD audio module is just a header collection on the front/back of the case, it does have some electronics on it as usually has a TOSLink port, and that obv needs the fiber driver led's.
You can get them and install yourself, even seen them on a blanking plate dropped into an empty pci slot.
Yeah upping the nvme is a good idea, storing on disks are fine, using them is hell, my editing laptop has a 1tb main drive nvme 970 evo, and a 2TB Sabrent Rocket for editing. Not sure what video you will be editing, how long, resolution, bitrate etc, but I'll warn you 4K footage can eat space...
The Gen4 PCIE Nvme may show a slight benefit, but not enough that you'll be able to tell, but hey always get the best you can afford I say, might pay off in the long run, and honestly, if you're only going to use the spinning rust for storage that's fine, if you want to edit off it, skip...
