Hello, I bought this pc about a month ago.

Chassis & DisplayOptimus Series: 17.3" Matte Full HD 144Hz 72% NTSC LED Widescreen (1920x1080)
Processor (CPU)AMD Ryzen™ 7 Eight Core Processor 4800H (2.9GHz, 4.2GHz Turbo)
Memory (RAM)16GB Corsair 2666MHz SODIMM DDR4 (2 x 8GB)
Graphics CardNVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 2060 - 6.0GB GDDR6 Video RAM - DirectX® 12.1
1st M.2 SSD Drive1TB SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2, PCIe NVMe (up to 3500MB/R, 3300MB/W)
Memory Card ReaderIntegrated 3 in 1 Card Reader (Full Size SD / SDHC / SDXC)
AC Adaptor1 x 180W AC Adaptor

The problem is, no matter what game I tried to play, the moment i hit the title screen or anything rendered, it just crashes my entire PC. I tried to cleanly uninstall my drivers and tried ALL the Nvidia drivers compatible with this graphics card, i tried to reduce my GPU clock by 200Mhz (just crashes my pc), I tried to disable any overclock, mind you i NEVER overclocked my GPU so I'm saying this just to make sure. I made a clean install of windows and downloaded the drivers in the download section of the technical support, no luck. I honestly am at a loss for what to do. I tried to call PCS but they told me to send it back, but my RMA isn't even approved after a week and my original packaging hasn't arrived so even if someone comes, i cannot give it back yet. I just don't know what to do. I paid 1400 pounds and it seems it was all for scrap metal.

When you say you clean installed gpu drivers, what method did you do for that?

What method did you take to reinstall windows?

I used Guru3D DDU to uninstall my drivers. Then used the drivers provided on the download section of PC specialist tech support to install them again. When that didn't produce any results, I uninstalled the drivers again with DDU, then installed all the possible rtx 2060 drivers from Nvidia's official site, one by one testing them out. If it didn't work, uninstall, restart, install the next rinse and repeat. When i went through all of them, installed windows 10 using the usb provided by my pc specialist order. Then installed the drivers from the download from tech support section of pc specialist, when that failled again, i installed all the compatible drivers again with the same method as before. No results.

Just as a last try, try a clean windows install from a new image direct from MS, delete all partitions and install to remaining space.

With drivers, you need to allow windows update to find all possible, then manually install nvidia and lastly the management driver from your PCS account.

So, in 2 days (29th) PCS is coming to take my laptop to check what's wrong with it. I checked the box saying that I DON'T have the original packaging. Sure, it's like 16 pounds but I am willing to pay. But no charge was issued, and no info at all of when the box is gonna be sent to me.

I have tried that as well, but Windows checks for updates and only installs the newest driver, which is the exact same as the one provided by Nvidia's official website. So it also didn't have any effect. I'll try to do a clean install of windows again from the official MS site. Hopefully something changes.

You just need to call PCS, sounds like all these issues could be cleared up with one phonecall.

Hello, I assume you had a look at your GPU/CPU temperatures? Its quite unlikely that this is the issue but its worth checking out as I have seen loose heatsinks/plastic stickers not removed from heatsinks etc.. a few times on this forum. Sounds more likely like a hardware/driver corruption issue. Maybe you can check your event viewer logs for more information on the crash

Never has reached above 50C. I always use the fan stand, and since the PC just crashes as soon as it renders anything, the CPU and GPU don't get the chance to heat up. It reaches 50C only when playing some games with no fan boost or the stand.

Unfortunately nothing changed. Same issue.

What’s logged in event viewer?
+1

You also say that 'it crashes your PC'. How does it crash? Does it BSOD? Does it restart? Does it black screen?

Are there any dumps in C:\WIndows\Minidumps or is there a C:\Windows\Memory.dmp file? If yes, then upload all of them to the cloud somewhere and post a link top them here.

From what you've done already (clean install of Windows and using Windows Update for all drivers) it does rather sound like a hardware issue to me, but it would be wise to make use of all the error recording details that Windows collects....

The screen freezes, then turns black after a few seconds, and it stays black until I turn off my pc with the power button. In th meantime it keeps making a screeching noise. I get no crashes logs or anything, it just loads/renders half a second of anything and then the crash happens. There are two minidump files and one memory dump file, I'll share the link shortly.

The kernel dump (Memory.dmp) at 17:51 is pretty straightforward, it's a DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION, which means that a driver spent too long running at DISPATCH_LEVEL. The driver in question is nvlddmkm.sys, the Nvidia graphics driver. Since you've clean installed Windows and installed the latest Nvidia driver for your card that might suggest that it's the card itself that's at fault.

The first of the two minidumps (092720-7890-01.dmp) at 17:32 is a strange one. It's a BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO which basically means that some boot configuration data was corrupted. This could be the Boot Configuration Data (BCD) or a registry hive is corrupt or missing important keys. In your dump it's a failure of the registry hive that's the problem and I don't see how that's related to a graphics card error.

The second minidump (at 17:51) is a repeat of the kernel dump above. Clearly the driver wrote the minidump and the kernel wrote a kernel dump both for the same failure.

This is going to sound weird, but given the two apparently different failures you've had here I would strongly suggest that you run Memtest on your RAM. This free version only does 4 iterations of the various tests but that's usually good enough, let it run overnight.

Flaky RAM causes all sorts of issues and I think it's important (given these dumps) that you check your RAM first. :)
