are my specs bad?

so i bought this laptop a year ago for £944 thinking it was pretty decent specs (my boyfriend customised it for me, i don’t really have a clue about that kind of thing). i wanted a gaming laptop and it runs well for what i use it for (usually pixel games like stardew or graveyard keeper or games like the sims and minecraft) the only thing is i finally decided to download some shaders on minecraft again and it’s taking my fps down from 95+ to 10fps. i’ve tried everything i can to customise the shader pack to work better with my laptop but nothings changed it. plus, shouldn’t i be able to run a shader pack on minecraft without any trouble? the people i’ve seen complaining about my same issue have been saying they have low end computers, and i was under the impression mine was at least average.

here are my specs

Depending on the requirements of the shader pack, it may simply be due to having only 4GB of VRAM in your video card.

Other than that, it could be that your boot drive is nearly full as it's tiny by today's standards (and probably small by the standards of the last 5 years). As it fills up, it slows down, and as it's small & slow (for an m.2 SSD) to begin with it will fill up/slow down quite quickly.

do you have any recommendations on how to fix it at all? thanks!

You can't fix a hardware-limited amount of VRAM...you'd have to replace the card...and I don't know what's possible in that laptop chassis.

As for the SSD, you would need to buy another, larger/faster SSD and clone your existing over to it.

The upgrade options should be available in your PCS account where your order is kept. This lets you know what's possible to upgrade and ensures compatibility. Otherwise you'd need to check what GPU/SSD options fit your specific model of laptop.

However, we don't actually know if either of these are the real cause of your issues...as I'd be guessing on the amount of RAM, VRAM, or SSD/HDD space these shader packs actually need (I've never used Minecraft myself...but I'm sure there must be a Minecraft expert somewhere on here to help).

It's not possible to upgrade the GPU on that model, it's soldered onto the motherboard.

A mobile 1650ti isfar less powerful than a desktop variant and will struggle at 1080p with modern games. It's also 3 years old now.

This is why on a laptop you get the best available GPU you can afford as it will be the first component to be outdated, and your only option is to replace the laptop.

i didn’t really mean updating the hardware and more was wondering if there’s anything i could do with the software to help it (clear out uneeded files or something) and if that would help it run better or not make much of a difference. yeah, i didn’t know much about anything and what i should be getting and thought it was good which is why i got what i got, otherwise i would have rathered to save more to get something better! anyway, thank you for replying
