When you say it got louder, what do you mean?

Fans all came on? Or noisy hard drive?

I’m no expert but my first thought would be open the machine and look inside. Try turning it on seeing if any obvious things are happening or not happening? Are the fans going, any signs of cooler system not working?

Check for loose wires.

If you can get it to stay up for long enough install something like HWMonitor to measure the temperatures, especially just before it shuts down.

What you describe has all the characteristics of overheating.

Sorry I should have provided more context, the fans were louder

I opened it up to give it a good clean to make sure there wasn't a load of dust but everything seemed ok.

As mentioned above and the reason I was asking to check fans/cooling etc working is it sounds as if it’s shutting down as it gets too hot.

Can you check what others have said as mentioned above or does it shut down too quick to do / look at anything at all.

If you cleaned it have you knocked a wire loose so cooling isn’t working as it should perhaps?

Yeah looking through their replies now mate thanks, I hadn't touched it before it turned off, I'm using it now and seems to be working completely fine.

Just done a virus scan (Normally do them every week) and a trojan was detected.... got rid of it and it seems to be running steady now

It's difficult to pinpoint without knowing what process caused the issue. It could be an issue with drivers, with your Windows install, with hardware.

If it was me, the first thing I'd do is look at "Event Viewer" (just click the Windows icon in the bottom left of you screen and then start typing it and it should show up. Once in event viewer, go to "Windows logs" and then "system" and see if there's anything highlighted there that might indicate the cause (major issues will show a red X next to them)

And while I've been typing @ubuysa has come up with the most likely reason for it!

I had a look at event viewer and found nothing, thanks for your reply :)
