Cpu fan error.

Hi,

Just went to start my pc up. I'm getting a cpu fan error. Four beeps when it starts up. I go into bios and it's not detecting my cpu aio at all.

Temp is showing 43c on cpu and fans for aio are running.

I have literally no idea what to do, please help. Hoping is an easy fix so I don't have to send off using warranty.

I've managed to get passed the bios and run my pc (I'm aware not advised) but my pump and fans are running, got the iCue software running now too. And it's showing everything as "normal", how it was before. I can't see anything different myself.

And when I adjust fan speeds for the cpu fans, parts of the aio, they stop/change when requested.

So I have no idea

Might have just been a loose cable (and so may happen again), or a software issue that has been cleared with a restart.

Sorry, I forgot to mention. It still happens every time I turn the PC on. I've checked the only connection from the aio to the motherboard at the front, which goes to the cpu fan header. I believe it's ok. Unplugged and plugged in a couple times in the same position.

I'd honestly probably look to send it back, could be an issue with the component and the last thing you want to fail is the CPU cooler

You paid for one that works so make sure you get one that works

I get that, but if its a firmware/software issue, I'd like to try fix it, as I've noticed I've only got labour warranty left now. Pc was built two years ago and not too sure on costs of sending it off and repairing.

But also, the aio for the cpu is working fine in icue, pumps and fans show as working, can be controlled and I can see the fans definitely working. The temp for cpu in bios is staying at 43c. So I'm wondering if a recent update may have caused this issue? Obviously if I can't find anything that's simple enough I will send back for repairs.

43C is far too high on idle as well.

It's one longer beep and three short beeps, does that make a difference?

Fair enough, so guess I'm sending it back or finding someone closer to diagnose and repair then.

This is getting confusing.
See I know that fault, as I have to turn my screen on to stop that. But last night I didn't at one point and had two separate 4 beep codes, I know one was for the screen because when i reboot the pc with the screen on, i had one set of beeps and still the cpu fan fault showed up.

So what was the beep code routine (long short)? If the cooler wasn't being detected in BIOS, that's definitely a hardware issue, the monitor beep codes is a separate thing. It could mean the pump is intermittently failing, or that there's just a bad connection somewhere on the pump connector.

But 43c is far too high on idle. I would do a stress test on the CPU with Prime95 to test under full load and check temps after 10 minutes while the test is still running.

I'll have to go back and check later today to make sure. but I'm pretty sure it was the same as the one for the screen. One long three short. If I leave the screen off, it does this twice in a row.

Thats getting a bit technical for me, so I think I'll be sending it back unfortunately.

One long beep and three short beeps because the monitor is off it's a known false positive the motherboard doesn't detect a signal from the monitor so it sends back an error code

Newer monitors send a constant signal to the motherboard but older monitors don't. This is basically a non issue

The pump not showing in BIOS is an issue though

I know this is a known fault. But it was doing this with the monitor on as well and then bringing up the cpu fan fault on the screen. Unless I am incorrect with the beep codes, I will check again later.

The pump and fans have a single wire, three pin going to the cpu fan header. And is all ran through a controller I believe so should it still show anyway?

Sorry for all the questioning, I'm genuinely interested in this stuff as well, just have 0 experience.

I have rechecked and confirmed I was wrong. It was one long beep, four short beeps.

The cpu is currently idling at 34c but only been on a minute or two.

Which is usually from experience the CMOS battery either needs reset or replaced? This is super easy to do and CMOS batteries are like £4 so finger crossed hopefully that's the issue

Locate your CMOS on your motherboard, it's a circle battery similar to the one in the the back of a watch or your car keys but bigger. You should be able to take it out of the slot, leave it out for a couple minutes and put it back in. This will reset it, if you still get a error go down to the shop and buy a new one and replace it. Hopefully I'm right on the beep codes trying to find concrete beep code list but don't have one handy

It's called a CR32 battery if you need a replacement, you can pick them up on amazon or even supermarkets, would recommend Duracell

Apart from I'm now missing uefi ipv4 and Ipv6, see picture. Not sure how to get these back.

You don't want UEFI boot, unless you're booting over a corporate network? It's redundant.
