Got the laptop yesterday and im love with it :D few quick questions though....Theres a button on the top right of the laptop with a usb symbol on it. What does it do? cause when i press nothing happens.

I also have something called a PCI simple communications controller in device manager. What is this? - a couple of things did not work off the cd so had to look around the web. Is it bluetooth? cause i also cannot find a driver for that.

Thanks

That button. It's one of those things. you press it, and it appears to do nothing, however, it actually opens your neighbours garage door via infared :) Clever gizmo :D

What Network card did you get with it. Did it state blue tooth?

lol what does it actually do? and it was the 6230 yeh. I ordered bluetooth separately but they said it wasn't compatible so they put the wireless/bluetooth combo thing in

To save opening a new a thread :). Still no luck with the bluetooth tried all sorts just cant seem to get it working....Another little question. Playing just cause gfx card temp hit 96C seems quite high; going to get a stand but just wanting to ask is that high for laptop? :/ no crashes from it or anything.

Thanks :)

not sure on the bluetooth/usb symbol problem as i havent owned a laptop for the past 8 years. as for the temps, would that be on max loads? as that is pretty high on a laptop but im not sure what average temps are for the laptop. Any chance if your room temps are warm or hot as this could possible affect it?

The bluetooth might be Windows key + 1 of the F keys will probably have a symbol on it, my old HP laptop has a FN key next to the Windows key that gets second functions on the F keys oh and i have to lol threshold for gpu on it is 110c i think when i played games on it it ran about 80-90c

i installed something called...intel proset/wireless software for bluetooth technology and it wont let me uninstall it to reinstall the driver, nothing is picked up device manager either apart from something called a pci communications controller - apparently that's the chipset but that has been updated already...

i removed it using a program reinstalled it but still nothing. Trying to installed broadcom (bluetooth software) on the cd that came with the laptop and says no device was detected :(

Can you not find anything in control panel for the bluetooth ? oh and the temp thing my laptop is 4 and a half years old just running a couple of small programs the temps 49c will run a game for a few minutes see what it does but it's old and might be best seeing what pez's runs at when he is next on.

In fact i was way off just running it now with Fallout NV and it's only reaching 56c i thought it ran hotter you should be ok though i am sure someone else will say if it's too high or not but it should shut down if it gets too hot.

Right,
I've just installed SpeedFan and these are the results I'm getting.
Nothing really running. Just come out of a gaming session:

GPU: 34C
HD1: 27C

Core0: 36C
Core1: 34C
Core2: 36C
Core3: 33C

Ok, just loaded up steam and went in to play TF2. Connected to server ready to play, and GPU @ 50C and Average core at 40C
