How dare you. There was never anything more exciting than hearing that minutes worth of weird beeps and static until it finally connected, or didn't and then you had to spend 2 days troubleshooting. We didn't even have CD's back then, so games, and other programs, were on floppy discs (plural). 1.44MB per disc.
MS DOS 6.2 was on 3 floppies, Windows 3.1 was on 6. I've still got the floppies, found them while rearranging everything to my new desk
