Lockdown - What's Worth a Watch?

Just seen the first episode of Moon Knight...and I'm liking it VERY much :)

It's got an action style similar to Watchmen (both the film and TV show), so it's very quick movement, but it's also got the multiple personality / possession element (F. Murray Abraham voices this) along the lines of 'Venom' albeit without the huge physical changes.

Yeah watched it too, I really like Oscar Isaac too so I'm pretty sure I'm going to like this one. Good first episode

Kung Fu Hustle here this eve. What a movie it is :D
I ruddybloody love that film. I grew up watching Jackie Chan’s early martial arts films (Drunken Master is well worth a viewing) and they always had a somewhat slapstick element to them. Kung Fu Hustle carries on that tradition in a glorious fashion. Shaolin Soccer is an earlier Stephen Chow movie and is also good fun.

And the best news? Kung Fu Hustle 2 is happening…

I had no idea! I'm not entirely sure how I feel about that though as it's perfect as it is.

I was thinking at the ending of it there that it's the Eastern version of a spaghetti western :D

Shaolin Soccer too, fantastic movie. I've always been a fan but most people just don't get it.

Another one that you might like, although I can pretty much guess you will have seen it, Bunraku. Fantastic movie, Sin City styling & cinematography with a cracking kung fu theme as well :)

Bunraku is a right laugh, it tends to do the rounds late night on Film 4 quite often so I’ve seen it a few times with a beer in my hand. Not a great film but for good modern chop socky fun it definitely ticks the boxes. Anything with Kevin McKidd and/or Woody Harrelson usually has a free pass from me.

Must check out Bunraku these kind of films are right up my street to be honest

Been watching Taboo in the mere seconds when Elden Ring releases it's grip on my consciousness, some really great acting performances and you can tell it's had a hefty budget. I'm really enjoying it, don't want to give too much away but it's essentially teetering on being brilliant if they go one direction but completely losing me entirely if they go another direction. Looking forward to seeing how it plays out either way

After watching Alita - Battle Angel, I checked over some classic animation shows from the old days and came across some that are really worth it.

Stripperella - Adult Animated series by Stan Lee, only 1 season

Cool World - Half Animated Movie with a young Brad Pitt, Kim Basinger and Gabriel Byrne. An adult version of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, well worth checking out.

I've got LOTS of shows to finish or catch-up on, but saw a post about this show on another forum and had to start watching again.

It's only now, on my second watch, that I realise I recognise the locations in the show...they're all from my hometown of Liverpool.

There's a US version that came out a few years ago, but I'm sure some parts will have been changed, so I'll leave that for another time...

We’ve started watching Stranger Things from the beginning in preparation for the fourth season. I’d almost forgotten how magical the first season is, it’s a beautiful love letter to the films of the 1980’s. Child protagonists, wicked synth music, G-Men with moustaches, other worldly creatures and a selection of haircuts that are best left in the past.

We just watched No Time To Die. Good movie, fitting end to Daniel Craig’s tenure as JB. But a waste of Rami Malek, what an anaemic Bond villain he turned out to be.

He’s the Diet Coke of evil. Just one calorie; not evil enough.

Just watched Pig, wasn't at all what I was expecting, couldn't make my mind up on it, I could understand what it was trying to do, but think it fell short.
I really liked it. It was like watching a hybrid of Taken and Babe, not a combination I’d have ever thought would’ve worked. Very unconventional and not the sum of all it’s parts but it’s definitely the best thing he’s done in recent years.

It was quite a challenging script to pull off.
