I've no idea why it's saying you need to buy firestrike, you don't. You can't run customised settings for free. Perhaps if the nvidia driver / geforce experience is fiddling with the settings you need to stop it doing that, because it sees you're trying to do a customised run and wants money. But the firestrike benchmark is free.

Have you logged into Geforce Experience? If so, it will have asked you the first time whether you want to automatically adjust settings for all games through a sneaky pre-ticked checkbox.

The answer is emphatically no, you don't want GFE to fiddle with your settings. Make sure the box for that is unchecked in settings.
Firestrike is free. but it needs me to have 3dmark on steam already, which wasnt.

I managed to find time spy and a couple other basic 3dmark benchamrks to run directly (firestrike too :) ), so i'll make my screenshots and post em eventually.

I'm bogged down with exams next week, so not soon. Nevertheless I'll post eventually, now that I can get benchmarks and clock speed screenshots.

Is there anything else you'd suggest I measure in my post?

I've no idea why it's asking you to pay, the whole point of the Firestrike benchmark is that it's the absolute standard one that everyone runs and is free to that end. Very weird.

Apparently Techspot has a mirror for 3Dmark

It's like, if you run 1 single benchmark on a gaming system, it's Firestrike. :) Maybe try the Techspot download.

The Ice Storm and Cloud Gate ones are deprecated (as indeed is 3DMark 11 itself) and not worth running.

Unigine Valley and Superposition are worth running.

gotcha. i'll make a firestrike benchmark.
On a side note, is doing this safe? (I got advice from some random redditor on r/GamingLaptops that picking up the bottom of your laptop is a good idea for ventilation:-

If concerned about temps and cooling the laptop a better plan would be a laptop cooling pad with fans built in. They can shave a few degrees off by helping with airflow
