Anyone else got the post-Steam sale blues? Waiting for that 8 hour flash sale time limit to refresh every day was almost as exciting as playing the damn games.

Not to worry. Just wait a couple of weeks and it'll be the Steam Christmas Sales

Also... Xcom has to be the most annoyingly addictive game ever based on one simple premise: statistical chance. I've got the point that if a soldier dies on me I rage quit and restart the entire game again. Suffice to say I'm not getting very far on it but at least I know what I'm doing now.

The worst part is when your guy misses a 95% shot :pinch:

Four 65% misses in a row yesterday from each of my four men attempting to kill the same frickin' alien early in the game... it's at times like that I just think 'cheat'

Im betting the alien didnt miss...

BTW love the pic in your sig Praise the Sun! :)

Derailing this thread slightly but last night, but I had my biggest anger fit so far on Xcom... did the 'attack the alien base' mission. Expertly sweeping a team of 6 through the base, then suddenly 6 spider-things and 3 heavy thugs appear and completely wipe me out. And all because I did ONE single dash move (yeah I know, silly move). I enjoy dishing out punishment to the game though in retaliation... "if you're going to wipe me out unfairly like that then I'll wipe YOU out and reload the level again you m***erfu***ing piece of S**T!!!!!".

I like to think the game then learns it's lesson and realises in future it shouldn't cheat against me. :)

What do we think of Rome 2 for £15? http://digital.gamefly.co.uk/#!/download-total-war-rome-ii/5005863

Have launch issues been ironed out? Worth playing?

I'm not the most tactically minded but I used to love RTS's and would love to get back into them...

Definately a good deal, although personally if you were going for a TW game i would go with Shogun 2. It'll be cheaper, more stable and it still looks good today. But if you like the Rome setting and the problems have been ironed out then definately.

Thanks for the input Dek, I'll have to have a think. I was always into Roman History as a kid so I'm swaying more that way than Japanese, but I've also heard Rome 2 is one heck of a lot more basic and is missing tons of features (which I'm not sure if I'll miss or not as it'll be my first TW game in years and perhaps the simplicity will appeal to me).

Then again, I'm not getting much chance to play at the moment as it is so perhaps I shouldn't be buying games :D silly game of thrones books taking up all my time..

Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition is on Steam for a fiver. Includes Awakening and all 9 DLC packs. That's a good bit of gaming for a fiver if you don't have it. :)
