why is that? its got 3tb lol let me specify it more at what point of memory will it start getting slow e.g. after having 500gb of stuff etc i also got the green drive as it uses less power but dont know exactly how much less compared to the caviar black

The caviar green is an energy saving drive so is slow. It also powers down when not in use so is incredibly slow to open stuff! It really would be worth getting a caviar black.

just to add on to that basically a black drive will run at 7200 RPM constantly, the green drive as musicguy has said powers down when not being used and it is stated that the drive can run anywhere between 5400 RPM - 7200 RPM but i would be surprised if they do much over the 5400 RPM speed tbh.

The Caviar Green isn't as fast as the Black but it's fine in general. I've got the 1TB version myself and the only game I notice the slow load times is in Battlefield 3. Dead Space 2, Dawn of War 2, Mass Effect 2 and Shogun Total War are all normal. If you can afford a better one then you could get it but the green version is silent and uses less power if that's a factor at all.

Don't forget to order yourself a new F5 key and even though you will be doing it anyway (as we all do) it won't be progressing and updating after 5 ish each day ;)

daym, can you tell me if the energy efficient part of the carviar green will have a good drop on the electricity bill or just a little bit?

Depends on how much you use your pc and the hdds but definately not more than a few quid if that. It is such a little difference, in fact it would probably cost less than a pound, possibly two. The performance of the caviar black is well worth the slightly bigger electricity bill!
