Its randomly closing to the desktop in games still! I sent it off to be repaired and they said it failed a prime error95 test or something, so they replaced the CPU.

Was so happy when I got it back today and I am so gutted to find the same things happening!

What do I do now? I feel sick and disappointed at this very moment in time.

Best to probably get back on the phone and tell them it's still doing the same thing as before the RMA. They'll sort you out :)

Im thinking I might not have enough power for my rig? There are so many things that could be wrong with it, at the moment I just wish I never bought this pc it has caused me nothing but grief :(

The PCS configurator would have not allowed you to continue without enough power, so i doubt it's that. :/ Just make sure you get on the phone to PCS in the morning and tell them straight up how it is :)

I know you're probably upset and annoyed by it all, but PCS has great Customer Service, and it'll get fixed, don't worry :)

"Having already delt with the same problem (including upgrading video cards, though I went ATI to nVidia) I can tell you without any doubt what is wrong. You need a better sound card. Basicly your sound card is most likley not DirectX 9 compatible.

There are a few steps to try. You might try upgrading your drivers for your sound card for starters. The second is lower the hardware exceleration on the card (right-click the little sound icon by your clock, left-click "adjust audio properties", left click the advance button near the bottom of the new window, left-click the performance tab, and the rest you should be able to figure out). If neather works, and you still get the directX error, it's the sound card.

I gamed for 18 hours without a crash or reboot once I borrowed a friend's card.

Now if only I could afford to buy one for myself..........anyway

Hope this helps you and if you see AceODeth online playing Halo or UT, sorry for kicking your butt. >)

Peace!"

Just looking at the previous post from before you returned your PC for RMA and there is no mention of a soundcard on there so do you have one or are you using the onboard ?

Has your system had a reinstall of the OS since the CPU was changed as the original was faulty you may have a corrupt install of the OS/drivers.

"Remove your sound card and see if the problem persists. If it does, then I'd try updating the sound card drivers."

"I removed my sound card and the problem has went away and my PC didn't freeze or Bsod. so the problem seems to be coming from my sound card."

Pretty positive now this is the problem. Soon as witcher is downloaded I can try it out :)

:whistling: i see a problem removing the soundcard then  as it's onboard

Could I disable the onboard soundcard and buy a new one? You can pick a decent one up for around £20 can't you?

To be honest it would be a little bit of waste of 20quid if you ask me. (plus maybe replacement sound card old/out dated)

I'd back up all your files that you dont want to lose. (movies, pics, docs)

Re-install the operating system, to do this you insert the windows cd that came with your pc, then restart your pc.
follow the instructions

BUT it will wipe everything on your system.

Onboard sound can normally be disabled in BIOS,
alternatively you can disable it in device manager by right clicking on the device.
I doubt this is causing the problem though.
Have you tried the Performance troubleshooter like I suggested in your other thread,
this can automatically find and fix problems. The Performance troubleshooter checks issues that might slow down your computer's performance, such as how many users are currently logged on to the computer and whether multiple programs are running at the same time.
A program running in the background could well be causing the problem.
Failing this you could try a clean install as suggested,
instructions are given in the welcome booklet.
Back up any data you want to keep.
