A thoroughly interesting thread. Its kept me going on my night shift for the past half hour :)
It seems you have been extremely unlucky Unweakened but it also seems that PCS staff, Gorman and Maestro in particular, are doing everything they can to help you but you're not really seeing that.
I'm assuming this is due to anger and frustration which isn't suprising really. I'd be most miffed too.

Courier companies (any courier conpany) are notorious for mishandling boxes and damaging items. But how else can PCS and other companies possibly deliver their goods without hiring dedicated drivers, which by the way cost a small fortune, and then having to pass this cost onto their customers who clearly wouldn't be happy with that.

I think Maestro has been more than fair and extremely patient spending so much of his free time attempting to help you. As others have said, I'd consider his offer of an attempt at fixing your rig and if that fails, wether due to do DHL or any other reason, then you get a full refund anyway and I believe he stated immediately so you wouldn't be waiting for your money. Can't say fairer than that. :)

As the system is back with me now I am adding my findings to clear a few things up for any future visitors.

This appears to be an issue with settings on the Monitor and ATI card, In the workshop we have fairly low response monitors and page tearing can usually be seen without much tweaking of settings. However in this case with unweakends PC when vsync is on in the games no tearing can be seen, with vsync disabled page tearning can be seen but this is mild. I have been playing various games on it this morning (to provide a full report before handing it to admin for processing) and found nothing with vsync on. again with it off I can see it in some games but nothing drastic.

Yes we saw page tearing on this system when it was back with vsync off but this disappared with vsync on. we tried many ati cards all showed exactly the same results.

I personally run vsync on all my games as I find page tearing in pretty much every game i play.

We take care and pride in our systems and RMA's and the last thing I'd want to send out from MY department is a damaged/faulty system.

So if your monitor has a refresh rate of 60Hz and you enable vsync, your max fps will be 60, is that correct?
If so, does 60 fps give a very good picture (I'm not really a gamer, so don't know much about fps rates)?
...and so you would need a better monitor with say 120Hz refresh to get the most out of your graphics card and game?

Yes thats correct. 60fps is absoultely fine and will give a great picture. Vsync will stop screen tearing, have a look on wiki rather than me typing it all out lol LINK HERE

A higher refresh rate would benefit yes but I doubt you'd notice much difference. I rarely have vsync enabled on my iiyama Prolite E2271HDS and I've yet to experience any screen tear at all! :)
Just experiment and see what happens, some game you'll need it enabled and others you won't.

Also a note of referance.

The average human eye can only see 30 FPS anyway so having a 60Hz minitor with vsync on is more than enough to enjoy any game.

I'm not sure this is actually true. I think it's just one of those old wives tales so to speak.
Given the speed the eye can move at and how quick signals are decoded and sent back and forth I find it hard to believe that the eye can only see at 30FPS and would be more likely to see in the 100s of FPS.
Will have to do some research on this :)

Well lucky enough I have TWO eyes, so at 30 fps each I get the perfect 60 fps for my monitor!...lol

:chris: = 30fps

:cool2: = 60fps

I just counted reading through this last page, and my eye FPS was 27. Is that normal? Is there any driver updates I can download to improve it?

Lmao nice one.....it just gets better and better! :)

Not much in the way of screen tearing on my 6950 and my Iiyama 2473hds.

The worst offender for me is when you dont have the settings all the way up to maximum on Crysis and you try and make yourself sick by spinning around in the jungle and looking up and down at the grass really quickly; but instead of enabling vsync I just go and do a bit of gardening after 8 pints for the same affect. Much more fun. :flowers:
