PCS are in the business of selling custom built computers,and these are PCS forums,so giving advice on building your own is not really encouraged.
There are numerous forums on the web that specialise in "building your own",I would suggest you ask for information and advice on those forums.

I've bought from here before and will again...don't see a problem speaking to fellow pcs customers but ok whatever

I love trying to help people and I've always tried to do so,even with someone with a non PCS computer,as they could always be potential PCS customers,but building your own is going into different territory,an anology posted before about this by one of the Admins is,
"You do not go onto sainsburys website and ask for opinions on shopping at tesco".

Why I put it in the general thread.

As you said there are 100's of sites I can ask...but PCS was a place ive used.
But I trust views on here like when I bought my last rig.

If anything clamping down on previous customers makes me want to shop elsewhere when I buy a new laptop

That doesn't change the fact posting about building your own could encourage people to do just that instead of buying from PCS,that's the point really.
I particularly asked PCS about this as I was even getting PM's asking advice about building your own and was told by an Admin It is frowned upon and to warn the posters not to do so.

Why would you not buy from a company whose only request is that you refrain from talking about subjects that may take business away from them?
