A low-end 1080p gaming PC would cost no less than £1500-1600. Anything lower isn't worth it in my opinion.

Here's an example of an entry-level 1080p gaming build (the 9700X is just a placeholder; you'll need the 7800X3D once it becomes available again).

That monitor would also be a poor choice for gaming because it's an old VA panel with no HDR and is too large for the resolution, resulting in a low PPI.
The max recommended size for 1080p is 24".

Resolution is just one of the spec: panel type, size, response time, input lag, HDR and refresh rate are equally essential for a suitable gaming monitor.

PC and monitor should be a good match. That's how you get value. If you're spending £2800 on a PC but have a terrible £150 display, you're wasting money and should divert some of that budget to a new monitor.

But also you don't want a PC that's underpowered for the display as that's also a waste.

However, the big question is: When you said "will upgrade to a 1440p monitor soon" how soon is soon? If it't within 6 months to a year, then speccing for it now would just about be okay..any longer than that and you'd be better off buying a 1080p system now and upgrading monitor and GPU at the same time and then selling on the old GPU

If you want a larger case than the Lancool 205c Mesh (350mm GPU clearance), consider the Lancool 215 (cheaper, quieter, and with slightly higher GPU clearance than the 4000D - 370mm vs 360mm) or the Corsair 3500X (slightly cheaper, much higher GPU clearance 410mm vs 360mm). I would stick with certain ATX 3.x PSUs (1200W RMx SHIFT) that have transient spike protection and let you to upgrade without restriction for the entire life of the system. If you want to save even more money, choose the 7800XT, which performs similarly to the 7900GRE.
