I would still prefer AMD also but I have no issues whatsoever recommending Intel in the laptop sector. There has been mention about the issues falling over to the laptop scene but I haven't seen any statistical evidence to support it, seems just typical failure rates as would be expected.
Just read that article. My head is hurting with how poorly it's written. Is AI writing everything nowadays; with someone at the end just signing it?
The big eyebrow raiser for me is the claim it's going to be the 9800X3D first. I am really surprised by that, and I would be absolutely amazed if...
I would take it with a pinch of salt in honesty. September was leaked last month. With the poor showing from the latest AMD release I thought it made sense. Then it didn't show and CES was being mentioned.
I think the potential is there, I think AMD are just weighing up their options. Whenever...
I had another wee search and found the below. Note that it's anecdotal and I believe based off of the manual, rather than experience, but it does suggest the same thinking that a PWM fan is required in the first position.
If saving the Qfan etc doesn't change anything (and note, it would only...
So with that as it is. You need to go into QFan control. Selec the CH5 fan option. Set to DC mode. Set it to quiet/silent/lowest option. Note that the graph should change to an actual profile at that point.
You may need to come out and save the changes for it to stick. I'm not sure if it...
Either (or any) solution is fine IMO. It's always a preference though.... .some people don't like the BIOS and it gives them the fear, so prefer UIs like iCue, which is why I would consider it.
I've long been an advocate of the static fan profile in a case, as you know @SpyderTracks. This is...
Ahh yes I think you're right. I was hoping it was going to be a an easy fix of just plugging it in home all the way haha.
If the fans are in fact connected to the hub then my guess is it's either configured incorrectly or impossible to configure correctly without a PWM fan attached.
Edit: Can...
If you have a close look at the pin you have marked "3" in the first picture you sent, and also the zoomed in one that doesn't have the numbers on it, the plug isn't pushed in. It's came away from the controller. No signal from this fan back to the motherboard may have stopped all functionality...
There are a few scenarios that are possible but that's the general jist of it. You will need to look to the left of where you took the first picture to see if there are 2 fans connected to it. If they are, that's your case fans.
If everything is connected to the controller and fan 3 is pushed...
Sorry, for yet another spiel. I'm trying to help with understanding on what does what here so wanted to keep it separate.
3 pin fans are controlled via voltage. When connecting a 3 pin fan to a 4 pin connection, you need to tell the controller of that connection that you wish to control the fan...
Ok I just did some intense googling.
Apparently there must be a fan connected to fan header 1. This cannot be changed as it's the return feed for the motherboard to detect a connected fan. What I cannot find is whether that needs to be a PWM fan, I can't think why it would as it's the tacho...
I don't think that would work the way it's configured. Full speed or no speed would be the likely outcome as it will either be getting 5v or 0 v depending how bad that connection is.
It's possible the PWN connections are voltage controlled as a hybrid but I don't know if it would sense the...
25% Partner Error
75% Intel design
The 25% itself can be argued as that's got its own can of worms open already as we all know. They're effectively saying utilising power settings outside of "recommended" will cause the wear, along with the inherent issues compounding the fault. This explains...
They were all 3 pin when I had them. I was worried the OP was confusing the fan cables marked "2" for the case fans. I don't think we know where the front case fans are yet.
I'm suspecting directly onto the MB somewhere and uncontrolled/nonconfigured
There are some strange things I'm seeing.
I don't understand why the rear fan has a 3 pin plug yet you have marked the yellow 2 as being the front fans with 4 pin plugs? I'm almost positive that those are from the AIO fans, with the lower 2 connections being the RGB connections.
It's quite...
Does vRAM not become moot if rendering via the CPU anyway? I was under the impression that vRAM was only a deal breaker when the GPU was being utilised in the grunt processing.
Regardless, I don't think £1500 is going to hit the aspirations. You can get a card with generous vRAM but it won't be...
Just spotted this thread. This is good news. It definitely sounds like a config issue with the case fans. They stock fans from Fractal are actually really good for acoustics, I was quite impressed with them. There shouldn't be a lot of noise from them at all once configured properly. Good to...
IIRC even with the cover on the top there are airgaps around the cover to allow breathing.
I would check the iCue software to see what it is set at. If it's set at extreme then it's going to be quite noisy. Balanced should be quieter but quiet would be the best option for the fans (balanced or...
