Be wary of the voltages of the RAM if buying it outside of PCS , I`ve seen SODIMM at 1.35v , they might work , but they will be warmer than RAM using 1.2v .
I`ve gotten quite close to 25K with a very minor OC on my RTX3070 , I`ve kept the CPU stock due to temp reasons . In the Valeon the Ryzen 9 gets very hot indeed , even with a cooling pad.
If I`m not on thin ice , The Ryzen 9 5900HX has a temp limit at 105 degrees Centigrade . So 90 is not overly dangerous . Hot sure , but not throttling . HWinfo 64 temp sensors have never shown my 5900HX to throttle at 90-92 degrees . With cooling pad it often enough stays at 80-85 degrees ...
I have the same issues with my Valeon also , seeing temps at 84-91 degrees depending on load . I`ve tried to mitigate it somewhat using a laptop cooling pad and it has given me less times CPU hits 90 than before .
Next up will probably be a repaste of thermal grease .
I`m also in Ireland and I`d check Elara.ie or laptopsdirect.ie as they both have a decent selection of screens . I might also add Argos.ie or littlewoods.ie as they are local also :-) So build the PC here at PCS and buy the screen from the stores I mentioned . As for the screen itself , what...
As a creator I`d opt for a laptop with a calibrated screen that is near 100 % Adobe RGB as opposed to sRGB which as a bit less color space .
Also perhaps look for Quadro Graphics or it`s replacement A-series such as A4000 Laptop GPU . I`m not sure if PCS offers specs like these , but I`d...
I would not at any rate use an eMMC storage , they are very very slow and is not good to be used with Windows 10 . Use anything else and I do mean anything else but eMMC storage . They are basically an oversized SD-card and have huge performance and durability issues in Windows over time ...
Pre-purchase:
So my previous laptop that I used was an Asus Republic of Gamers G752VSK with the Kaby Lake CPU Intel i7 7820HK , it also had 48 GB DDR4 2133 Mhz DIMM along with the venrable nVidia GTX 1070 8 GB GDDR5 GPU connected to the 17"3 IPS 120 Mhz screen.
As this laptop was getting a...
Intel`s spec page for that i7 9750H CPU states that the CPU can manage up to 2666 Mhz DDR4 . Now each laptop is unique and it might not be true for yours . But atleast it is a hint of what the CPU can manage .
Log on to your order page and you should be able to see the general spec for the...
Why would upgrading memory brick a laptop ? If they run at the same voltage and use the same standards they should work at the highest speed allowed by CPU memory management .
To put it simple , if both memory modules are working at the same voltage , let`s say 1.2v but at different speed 2666 Mhz vs 3200 Mhz then the temperature will be the same for both . But if you want your existing 2666 Mhz memory to operate at 3200 Mhz then you might need to increase the...
But 4 and 8 TB NVMe are still quite expensive compared to regular hard drives of the same size ( non SSD`s ) . Especially 8TB . Better to have external storage than pay extra for NVMe for static storage.
I would pick the 17.3" Iconico as it have 4x USB ports , large and good display with 2K resolution (2560x1440) and very decent performance overall . It comes with a large 91WHR battery that will last for likely 4 hours plus , depending on end configuration.
With this laptop you have the...
Don`t hold it against me , but I`m driving an Porsche Cayenne S 2005 model . Plenty of grunt from it`s 4.5L V8 and 340 HP is more than enough . It is a nice car , albeit thirsty and expensive to maintain . I had hopes to drive it offroad , but the pandemic in Ireland has made it kind of...
Memory speed itself won`t create more heat , only when you increase the voltages to make the memory run faster will it get warmer. But a memory module rated at 2666 mhz at 1.2v will generate the same heat as one at 3200 rated at same voltage .
My Valeon works happily at 3440x1440 @100 Hz with my 35" Acer Predator Z35p .... it even uses G-Sync over that connection . I`d assume atleast version 1.4
