Maybe a stupid question but what's the reason for the OC'd CPUs being cheaper than stock? Just due to 8700k market supply?

I don't know - it could be that, it could be someone pressed the wrong button when pricing

Whatever the cause, it helps to offset some of the aggressive cooling needed for OC'd models.
