Hello,
Since I am a student I can get a discount on Microsoft Windows 7 Professional Upgrade 32/64-bit (English), for £57 however I am a bit unsure with the "upgrade" bit, does it mean I cannot use it unless there is a previous windows installed?

Yes, the upgrades need an valid existing version of Windows on the machine that is to be upgraded to Win7, eg generally it'd be XP or Vista.
The upgrade packages are generally cheaper because they know you already have a valid Windows OS on your machine

this is what it says a upgrade most likely from windows 7 home you would need a full retail cd to be able to install it on your pc i belive, but i might be wrong best bet is to ring pcs and ask this question directly to them.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I was confused because the bottom of the page indicates the possibility of a clean custom installation, it is really a shame. I was hopping just by getting the product key PCs could just use it to install the OS.

Looks like a nice machine :)

(I shouldn't really look at other peoples specs, makes my machine look old and inferior ...)

Since the gtx 590 is again of of stock and many users of the forum have suggested the amd 7970, could anyone recommend me a good 27 inches 3d monitor compatible with the card? Is it easy to set up the 3d features when playing games or movies?

If you want to see stuff in 3D you would need a 3D kit (which has glasses and stuff), but it looks like the ones PCS have only work with Nvidia - but I could be horribly wrong here - I dont know if the AMD cards will do 3D.

And I suspect a 27" 3D capable monitor will be pricey.

I was planning to get the Asus 3D 27 that comes with the emitter and 3d glasses thus my choice for the gpu. I am not sure how difficult would it be to run the amd 7970 with the asus monitor
