Hi,
I got a brand new Recoil 15.6 (specs in signature) last week. Licensed Windows 11 (purchased in the order) was already installed by you.
The drivers are all updated from Windows 11, so much so that on my user profile I have no drivers nor BIOS to download for my config, while for the Geforce 3080 video card I did a clean installation of new drivers downloaded from the Nvidia site.
INTRODUCTION: at start-up I have only the essential programs, the Control Center is set to OFFICE for normal work and GAMING for games \ benchmarks, energy saving on BALANCED in general and HIGH PERFORMANCE for gaming. The notebook has no other components around it that can overheat it, it is on the desk and it is free around, with no other nearby that could obstruct the side vents.

That said, I started doing some Benchmarking with 3dMark, and some problems started to arise, that is:

1) RAM: n first and foremost, as I was pointed out in the forum by @FerrariVie @SpyderTracks, my RAM ( 64GB RAM DDR4 SODIMM Corsair 2666 MH ), both from the results of 3dMark and from HWinfo (see attachment) it goes at 1333 mhz, that is the EXACT HALF of 2.666! How is it possible? Did they fail or is there some BIOS or settings problem?

2) TEMPERATURE: I tried to launch a game (Warzone Call of Duty). Apart from the fact that the fans start practically immediately and remain so throughout the game. However, on Warzone I have stable FPS at 100 FPS, with default graphics settings (I have not touched anything) and Control Center profile "GAME MODE". Here are the temperatures.
img_9939-1-jpg.30622

After about 20 minutes the GPU reaches 86 C.
Then I go to the benchmarks of 3dMark (TimeSpy) and here we have higher temperature peaks, with average temperature of 79C for the GPU and peaks of 94C for the GPU and 90C for the CPU.

Do you think these are normal temperatures?

3) PERFORMANCE: the aforementioned Benchmark has the result of 10.786 (Graphics Score 11.247 - CPU Score 8.755). Apart from that for a high end laptop like mine the general score seems really low...I'm at the level of a 3060 for notebooks, if not worse! i.e. the Valeon of @KriSta with a 3070 got 25.300 in Fire Strike while i got maximum 21.780! But in particular @FerrariVie on other topic pointed out that the CPU Score is particularly low and out of standard. Given the above (RAM and temperatures) I have to think that my notebook is a bit "loser" as components (I lost in the silicon lottery?!), Or is it some BIOS or settings problem ?!

I await advice from you and info from technical support to understand how to solve the situation ... having spent a lot of pennies, I'm clearly disappointed !:(

Thank you all!

Your TimeSpy score is quite close to mine though , not a huge margin between them . I`m running Windows 10 Pro so there could be differencies between the OS that makes the scores different .

ehm...I've a RTX 3080 16GB...I really hope to have better results than a 3070, otherwise I would have saved up my money and got a model with a 3070 :)

I agree and besides you run Windows 11 and me Windows 10 , your laptop seems to run quite a bit warmer than mine . At max fan my GPU seldom hit more than 78-80 degrees and often less than that . Also my CPU is usually hovering at 80 degrees , so they are not by any means running hot while gaming or benchmarking . Have you checked the fan curves in your Control Center ? Do they seem to be correct ? Also have you checked and adjusted the TGP settings for your RTX 3080 ?

It is the power allowance setting for the GPU . You should have it in your Control Center , usually at the Performance icon .
I’ve never touched settings on Control Center, only switched thought Office and Game mode, the standard profiles...and never Tried the Power Mode

UPDATE: concerning my RAM problem, I downloaded CPU-Z and this is The values for my RAM (665.1 MHz):
DBAB1F5E-8545-48B9-8ACA-C9BC90F8F592.jpeg

And it all seems weirder when I check my BIOS, displaying The following values:

53D583C0-F369-4CBF-9ADC-7D7428D500FA.jpeg

So...it seems that my BIOS displays my RAM with the correct mhz value of 2.667 MHz, while in Windows 11 my RAM runs at 665x2= 1330 MHz 🧐

I really do not understand what is my problem...hardware? Software? BIOS? It’s kinda mistery! Please help me to solve it! 😰😰😰

Since you also have a tongfang, could you please give him some examples of what should be changed on the control center? Do you know what is the TGP that should be used for the 3080 on this chassis?

You can't really compare your overall score and temperatures with @KriSta 's build as his CPU is from a different brand, so regarding performance his CPU is superior (IMO) and temperature management will be quite different as well, not to mention that on laptops it is the CPU temperature that has the bigger impact (even on the GPU temperature, since the heat pipes are shared between CPU and GPU).

But the GPU performance can be compared thogh, as your results should be better than his. But you need to sort out the RAM issues first, since I believe that this can be having an impact on your results, and then make final assumptions over temperatures and scores.

Could you post a screen of that control center configuration? Just wanted to double-check if I understood this correctly.

Are you also using a cooling pad or at least a laptop stand that allows ventilation on the bottom? I would highly recommend a cooling pad with fans for builds like yours. Something like the below:

I'm not recommending the brand or specific models since I don't have them, it's just to give you an idea of what I'm talking about. The one I have is the below which is unavailable for a while now. It doesn't have a fan but my build is not as powerful, so it works just fine for me.

We need to take this back to square one. Did you oorder with windows or without? Can you post your full specs?

I hope it helps to give u a better idea on my specs...and help me to find a solution...since I wrote 2 days ago to PCSpecialist support, through my account, but they never answered me! :(
Many thanks again

ehm... @FerrariVie sorry no, I don't know the suggested TGP and dunno how to find it :( I can only display you what CPU-Z tell me:

Here u r my control center options. Please note that:
- I never touched the settings of any of the pre-setted profiles (all default)
- With ALL profiles (Office, Game and Turbo) the RAM always go on 1333 MHz frequency (i.e. 665.1 x 2, checked with CPU-Z)

I received today aCooler Master NotePa U2-Plus V2, but still not tryed...I'll do it in the afternoon and let u know if the temperatures will go better!

If u need more info do not hesitate...please check also my previous reply to @SpyderTracks with other info on my RAM.

Thanks again for all your support :D

The settings I`m using is shown in the screenshot below . As you can see i`ve enabled the full performance and power allowance for my GPU .

Mhhh I Guess that, if I copy this settings, my temperatures, already high on my system, will slyrocket to meltdown :(

I would also suggest in order to reduce the heat on your CPU , lower PL1 to 35w and set PL2 to 55watt . This will make the CPU to use up to 35 watt power nominal and 55 watt boost ( turbo ) as I`ve understood the settings . This will ge some room for enabling more power to the GPU without melting the laptop.

That's not a fix though, that's just nerfing performance. I would suggest you want to address the cooling issues rather than masking them.
