i came flying down the stairs as you do when waiting for a parcel,

Thing is, I'm so on top of waiting for delivery men, that I actually wait a little bit before opening the door, so they don't realise that I was actually waiting and watching for the last three hours for him to arrive. :p

Don't want to look too keen. ;]

Again, I find disappointment with DPD. Yes they delivered the new card on Tuesday but unfortunately, I had to go out. This left my partner to deal with the delivery driver who did not ask for the old card in exchange and instead left the new card without taking it. Surely it should be standard procedure not to hand over the delivery until the old one is in their hands...

I never noticed the card sitting next to the phone table until I got a phonecall from PCS the next morning, asking me to return it. I will be doing this tomorrow but again at added cost to myself. The system was over a grand in the first place, I've been offered a return on the fast track delivery payment due to the broken gpu but nothing as of yet has appeared and it'll probably be over a tenner to send the card back by recorded delivery. I'm wondering whether I should just have built my own now and saved the money and hassle.

My order has went into "Order Dispatched" today :D.

when I click on the tracking number on the "My Orders" tab it goes we did not get any results. now Im not mad and dont expect an instant tracking link, but how long does it usually take to get into DPD's system?

It will be logged in their system some time after it arrives at their depot, which often is not til when the driver gets back from his day out delivering/collecting, ie. the driver may not get back til after 6pm.
So it should be trackable some time this evening.

If something is ordered for Saturday delivery, do DPD pick it up when ready and hold on to it until delivery, or is it held with PCS until (say) Thursday?

I'd suspect the former, but the latter offers less chance of anything untoward happening!

They collect it on Friday for Saturday delivery.

Thanks Rakk - we're away for a week so was umm-ing and ahh-ing about the best timing for the order! Almost happier for a delay in build so it doesn't come whilst we're gone (and hassle of redelivery etc)

Delivery Company

Having been waiting since 30th of April for my New Vortex III I obviously would like everything to go as smooth as possible when the 7970M comes into stock. Having ordered some unrelated items from Amazon, I experienced the amazingly pathetic service provided by DPD. "There was nobody available to sign for your parcel" Oh really? I live on a military base.... although I am at home on leave right now, it's a sodding military camp! Are you telling me that it was deserted? That not one person was even in the guard room? That the civilians that work in the post room no more than 40m from the main gate had up'd and left? I doubt it....

Having now spent 15 minutes on the phone waiting for a customer service agent, getting told that an agent will be with me shortly every 30 seconds. I finally get through to someone that then puts me back on hold for another 5 minutes to contact the driver, only to hang up the phone on me....

I then call back and go though the whole process again just for the call to get dissconnected once again! I have given up and used the website to rearrange the delievery for when I am back off leave, however I am still going to have to be at work, whats the betting that the driver won't call me to let me know that they have arrived? or wait 1 minute for me to get to the main gate and sign for it myself?

Our guard room signs and deals with packages from corriers on a daily basis, business and personal items for the 2000 people stationed there, no other corrier has a problem, why does DPD?

Just in case you think I'm ranting because I've had a one off bad experience, check this independent review site where DPD score an amazing 2.8/10 over just short of 1000 reviews.....

Please PCS, even Royal Mail are more professional than this.

We have been here a thousand times before and via a thousand threads.

We use to use Yodel. Before that city link, etc. etc. We now use DPD and to be honest we have regained the services of 2 staff now that they are not constantly chasing up issues with yodel. Personally, DPD have without doubt been the best service from our point of view that I have ever encountered. The 1 hour timed delivery service is brilliant. The amount of losses and damage has virtually disappeared. And when we do have an issue the customer services department we use is able to talk in Realtime to the driver, and usually the issue gets sorted there and then.

That being said there will always be issues. Every major courier company is on that independent review site. Very biased to mention that DPD have 2.8 /10 and not mention others.

These are the only companies with over 100 reviews.

With regard to the issue of delivery to military establishments or any other campus such as college or university. Our contract does not permit delivery to anyone other than the consignee at the address on the delivery label. In the past we have had deliveries to post rooms, next door neighbours) etc. In one case there was a building site next to the delivery address and the pc was signed for by someone on the building site and it was never seen again. When this happens we often got complaints from customers who were appalled that there goods were delivered to someone other than them.

As you can see it’s a no win situation for the delivery company. But they will make mistakes, however, DPD have been by far the best.

Interesting (and rather shocking). I suppose the people most likely to register and review are those motivated by disappointment, so the sample is somewhat self-selecting and biased.

Having read this thread I had a sinking feeling when I ordered a laptop from Amazon (basic spec for the Mrs, not a fancy one from here!) and saw it was being delivered by DPD. Additionally there was a freebie in the order, which turned out to be coming from a separate depot (so I had no faith in them both turning up on the same day). I'd paid for the next day delivery, but couldn't be at home to receive it. The Mrs was due to be at home, with a few trips out (school run, play date for the smaller one), so I'd resigned myself to re-delivery, thinking I could at least direct to a safe place or a neighbour.

Was therefore pleasantly surprised that it turned up within the hour window, and left with a neighbour, and was therefore able to pick up that night.

I tried to update the trustpilot with the review, but it won't connect with my Facebook account and I can't be bothered to register specifically (see what I mean about self-selecting samples...)

So a +1 to DPD...

I think all couriers are crap - my Mum used to work for a wine importer and used Amtrak for the rest of the UK, and a variety of couriers in London. All were awful. Sometime the drivers would just chuck the parcels away into a field as they couldn't be bothered to deliver!!

My order shipped today, received an email confirming delivery tomorrow so as you can imagine I was in good spirits!

Been tracking my shipment all day, left Leeds just before 6pm, was shown in "Transit" all evening so I assumed it was on its way to Glasgow! Well....my delivery status has just regressed to "At Sortation Facility" in Birmingham. Even further South and hence further from me than when it started. Unless someone's planning an all night drive up to Scotland I don't hold high hopes of actually receiving my order tomorrow.

I'll wait and see......but given my track record with deliveries I won't hold my breath.

The package will probably be diverted to the companies main distribution centre, which can be further away from the destination. My computer was brought up to Scotland overnight & I received it the next day,so keep tracking.:)

DPDs main hub is located in Birmingham.
Delivery companies tend to have one main hub all parcels go thru,
Loads are then made up to larger delivery hubs,
If they are anything like Royal Mail yes your parcel will travel during the night to Scotland to a local delivery centre,

Well thats how its supposed to happen.

@benediction

I was in the army, n there was loads of times when I had stuff delivered, every single time the clowns on guard would refuse to sign for stuff! Even though they could if they wanted!

So I put money on the fact that those on guard/ in the guard-room just refused the delivery. Yeah they sign for stuff all the time, but that doesn't mean anything mate.

Well colour me Derpy, it was a long day yesterday! I think a combination of that, and DPDs tracking system getting a bit confused that threw me off. Package is due for arrival today between 1.43 and 2.43!

Getting it delivered to my work, and my office must have been stated about 3 times on the address so here's hoping I don't have problems with signing.

Then I've just got to carry it home through a crowd of Olympic relay gawkers...

EDIT: Just to keep this on topic, my laptop has arrived! About to tear into it now :D DPD delivered within the specified hour, took the box to the workshop that usually takes deliveries and left the attendant my phone number to call me. Very pleased with the service.
