Bit of a late reply, but thought I'd just add my experience.

Good -> Perfect right up until day of delivery. Nice texts to tell you what day it will be shipped, with the option of changing delivery dates if you wish. I changed mine with no problem with a very simple text!

Bad -> Waited from 08:00 all the way up till 15:00 - the time it came. Basically, NO 1 hour time slot specified. Instead, timeslot was 8am-6pm. Brill. Day wasted for me, which was a bit annoying. DPD, which was based in the town I live, had some 'new drivers' and some had to do paperwork, or something. Does sound like they genuinely had a bit of a bad day/few days whatever but still. Even phoned up their office but the woman there was unable to give me a reasonable enough guess.

Ah well, not too bothered now. My 650M i7 3610QM has been working like a dream!! :tt2:

Here is my letter to DPD after taking off 6 hours from work, just beacuse I got a confirmation text from them that my delivery would come 19-06-12 :

On 18-06-12 I received a text saying my delivery will arive 19-06-12, since it has been sent with next day delivery.
It is 19-06-12, but still no news about my parcel. On the website, I can see that 7:47 it arrived to the depot ( i was able to see this information around 10:30....) but since then nothing. I stayed home from work only for this parcel and it seems it is not going to come..... I called the customer care team (before 5) was on hold for 15 minutes .. nobody picked up. When I check from my mobile (m.dpd....) it says "Parcel Held".

Now, why is it not showing ont he normal website ? For what possible reason could it be held for ? Why nobody informed me about this (automated text or whatever) , so I would not have to wait for nothing ?

As you can see I am not in a calm state of mind, so I would like to get the answers for these questions as soon as possible.

Ps: first time I was trying to send this message the error came up : “ Sorry, there was a technical problem…”

Thank you,

To sum up, I wasted 6 hours (well not wasted, jsut shifted, but still annying, I dont like working 14 hours the next day :D In addition tomorrow I am going to be duty manager, which means I have to sleep over at my job + next morning/afternoon...

So all in all (after I cooled off....) My only problem with them is that when it is a good news (delivery next day...) they are spot on, but when it comes to bad news there is just no communication. When trying to call them there is no office opening hours, the only thing it says "normal office hours", which is 9am-5PM ( as far as I am aware), but after sending the above message to them I got an auto reply saying "If you are communicating with us after 4.30pm weekdays or after 11:00am on a Saturday, you will receive your response on our next working day"
which means : we are open until 4:30. Is that so hard to put next to the telephone number ?
If they would have texted me saying (or even put on the web tracking) Delivery delay, will delivery next day, or unexpected held up, or basicly anything, I would have been able to make it to work.

Also this " 1 hour tracking slot" is really confusing as well, in your mail it says :

"You can track your order at any time by clicking below. From the morning of 19 June you will also be able to view your one hour delivery timeslot by clicking below."
Well, thats not true "by clicking below" you wont be able to, let me quote fom the DPD website:
08445 560 560 - "The number to call if you are expecting a parcel. You will be able to obtain your 1 hour delivery time window and you can rebook your delivery to a more suitable date." So you actually have to call them for it. (Also a miscommunication from DPD side)

If you contact them ( I am sure you are keeping in touch daily with them) just mention these "little" details to them, so they can correct those mistakes, giving PCS customers an even greater satisfaction. ( I know its not your fault, Im just mentioning regarding the whole PCS ordering experience)

It won't appear on their tracking til it is logged in at their depot, which is often not til the driver has finished for the day.
So it's unlikely anything wil appear quickly, but some tracking should be there by about 7-8pm this evening.

atleast its your neighbour and not a random builder!

Pretty annoyed, could have been stolen!

That reminds me of when I was getting a new TV delivered about 5 years ago, first one they completely lost, never to be seen again, second one they delivered to someone 'next door' who I can only assume was someone loitering around my building cos whoever it was certainly didn't live in my building of 4 flats, never to be seen again either - luckily I got it on the 3rd attempt.

Note: it wasnt Yodel or DPD, think it may have been Amtrak (or something like that), but I can't really remember

lol, the courier probably nicked the tv!

I think PCS need to cover the box in stickers saying "DO NOT GIVE TO ANYONE OTHER THAN ADDRESSEE"

Its annoying with couriers, one sometimes they are fine, had many dpd deliveries that always go well, then one like this one, that could have resulted in it going missing.

I thought they did have a least a few of those stickers on there :)
I believe it is in their contract to not deliver to anyone except the consignee, but obviously that rule isn't always adhered to. But I'd definitely let PCS know that it wasn't delivered to you or your address since as I say I'm pretty sure its in the contract T's & C's of theirs.

I received my PC today from DPD. Here are my experiences.

Yesterday, I got an email saying my PC was out for delivery, then another email giving me a 1-hour delivery slot. The PC didn't show up though, and when I checked on DPD's website, the status read "unable to locate, directions required". The address in the email had the street missing, though the post code was correct and they had my 'phone number, so I don't think it would have been that difficult to find me. Probably the driver was running late. I rang DPD but was directed to to the sending company through an automated message. I 'phoned PCS who got DPD to arrange delivery for the following day (today)

I got another 1-hour delivery slot today, and this time the driver did show up within the delivery window. He then refused to carry the box to the flat (from the main block entrance) citing health and safety. I wanted to check the contents but couldn't very well do it outside, so I said I'd sign for it unchecked, at which point he got bolshy and a minor argument ensued. In the end I told him I'd either sign for it unchecked or he'd have to wait while I took it into the flat and checked the contents, which is what happened, during which time he never stopped moaning. Anyway I gave the box and contents a very cursory check and all looked OK. I signed and he went away still moaning.

Purely by chance, I had another package from Amazon delivered by DPD just half an hour later (both packages were at the local depot at the same time but they were put on different vans). I spoke to this second driver about the first and was told he was quite new and perhaps didn't understand (or was unable to communicate) all the company policies regarding deliveries, and he confirmed that it was perfectly OK to sign for something unchecked. He also said it was company policy not to allow someone to open a box until after they'd signed for it, in which case people would be wise to always sign unchecked for expensive items, even if the box looks OK.

My conclusions about DPD:

They have a good tracking system, maybe the best I've seen. The 1-hour delivery slot is good, when it works, but maybe a rod for their own backs when they miss the target. The reason given for non-delivery yesterday was far from convincing.

The first driver today was uncooperative and a bit rude. But he was new so it may be that he didn't know the rules well enough to do a professional job. In contrast, the second driver was friendly, helpful and competent.

DPD's policy is not to allow you to check contents of a package before signing for it. In consequence people should insist on signing for expensive items unchecked even if the driver gets stroppy. I don't know if this is standard practice throughout the industry, I've never had a problem with other companies when I've wanted to check the contents of a delivery, though it's not something I've done often.

DPD don't seem to have a manned customer service (at least not one the recipients can contact - senders obviously have a contact number). Their automated system just tells you to contect the sender if there is a problem, which is less than ideal. Maybe I just didn't find the right contact point.

I was unlucky with my delivery driver, but I can't say I'm that impressed with some aspects of DPD, especially their lack of customer service and some of their delivery policies, like not allowing the checking of contents and not delivering right to the door (if you live in a flat). But I can't comment on whether any other courier company does things differently.

Being new is not an excuse for a delivery driver to be rude and uncooperative, I always sign "unchecked" and I have never had any issues with DPD drivers. I had some issues also contacting DPD directly, if I wanted to change the delivery/collection date I had to contact PCS directly.

Not an excuse, no.

I had a third courier delivery today. Of an empty box for my use in sending off a TV for repair. No-one told me he was coming and it was just luck I was in. That wasn't the courier's fault though. The driver, from UPS, said he'd be in my area on Monday, and gave me his mobile number so I could ring him Monday morning if the TV was ready for pick-up, and he said he'd come right round rather than have me sat waiting all day. There are good and bad stories and it seems often to be down to the individual driver rather than the company.

Was the box damaged the seal broken? I'm just wondering why you want to check the contents?

I can't say a bad word about DPD :) My pc arrived, in great condition in the middle of the time slot provided ^^. The driver was very nice. He asked me if I could help him carry it in, because my front door are on the slim side, and he said he was worried he wouldn't be able to fit in with the box >w<

No and no. Because things can get damaged even if the box looks OK and a lot of companies specifically tell you to check the contents before signing for something (to absolve themselves of responsibility and knowing full well most people won't). That doesn't apply to PCS of course. If the driver had explained DPD's policies beforehand I wouldn't have bothered, just signed for it unchecked - but then, the driver wouldn't let me do that, and you shouldn't sign for something as checked if you can't actually check it.

Just had my laptop delivered this morning by DPD. The tracking information said that it would arrive between 08:24-09:24 and it was delivered spot on 08:24. Packaging was very good, laptop was in excellent condition, and it runs perfectly. I was a little worried about the delivery because the front of the flats where I live isn't actually on the road on my address but evidently this wasn't a problem for the DPD delivery man (Jason) to work out where to deliver. Jason even wished me a good weekend which was nice.

All in all I'm very pleased.

Thank you PCS and thank you DPD.

Just want to say how impressed I was with DPD.

Their tracking system kept me up to date the entire time, and they arrived RIGHT in the middle of their one hour slot, which they text and emailed two hours before delivery.

No complaints at all.
