Any reason you’ve gone for a micro ATX motherboard in an ATX build? Was it because it was cheap?
There are a number of issues with that build. I’d definitely get some advice before ordering.
When you ordered, what was the specified power consumption?
A 250W PSU feels incredibly low, even for those components. It may not be the issue, but the motherboard and CPU must take up half that wattage.
I’m a bit of a snob when it comes to coolers.
You’ll see a lot of low-end machines, and even some mid-range, with air coolers, but my question is always “why would you?” From an aesthetics point of view, you can’t beat an AIO, especially these days when they look so good.
As for choosing the...
For me, liquid cooling is for enthusiasts. For the most part, it’s overkill for the vast majority of people. You’re right though, it can look great.
AIO’s are generally the way people go, especially with a budget like yours, and are most than enough for the average user, but especially if you...
Any reason why you’ve gone for the liquid cooling option?
By your own admission you’re “as naive as they come” and liquid cooling requires maintenance once a year. Will you be able to check for leaks, refill the reservoir etc? If the answer is no, steer clear of a liquid cooled system in my...
Whatever you do, do not, under any circumstances, go for an Intel CPU. It’s just not worth the risk.
There are a couple of minor alterations that could be made to the above build. Could you post the full specs including the configuration link? It makes it easier to make changes.
What’s your...
I can't remember the last time I thought about a CRT monitor, let alone heard about someone actually USING one.
I'm not sure how we went from " I don't really have a budget as such, I can spend whatever is necessary" to a budget of £1,500. That was almost a bigger surprise than the monitor.
Hi Joe, was this is a PC Specialist build?
If so, could you post the full specs from your orders page? If not, I'm afraid as this is a PC Specialist forum, we can only offer advice on Pc Specialist builds.
For general tech questions you need a tech forum like Tom's Hardware.
