I had a bit of a problem with Yodel but not in terms of the handling of the pc. My order status changed to dispatched last Saturday. I assumed this meant the pc would in fact be dispatched on the monday and sure enough i got the email on monday morning confirming dispatch and giving me my tracking number. I phoned them (Yodel) to check it would be delivered the next day and was advised it would be. I then made arrangements to have someone at home on Tuesday to receive it. It didn't arrive. There was no update to the online tracking until after 9pm on the Tuesday at which point it updated to say that it had arrived at the Wednesbury hub at 14:50 that afternoon and immediately left there again. Again there was no update for the rest of the Tuesday night.
When i got up on Wednesday morning the online tracker confirmed my order had arrived at the Glasgow depot but had been re-routed to another courier. I phoned again at this point to find out what that meant and check whether it would definitely be delivered that day and was told that it probably wouldn't be since they had only received it earlier that morning but that someone would phone me after 9am to confirm one way or the other.
I'm still waiting on the call but the pc was delivered on the Wednesday at about 1pm. Absolutely no problem with the packaging/delivery driver etc. Fortunately i took the view that it was likely to be delivered and had arranged for someone to be in.
So all in all it arrived safe and well but was a day later than i would have expected and with fairly poor communication throughout.
Not too serious and certainly wouldn't put me off using them again.
Have also had many other deliveries from Yodel in the past with no problem.

I also had a bad experience with this company. After my computer broke during 1 hours session of Crysis 2, 3 day's old PC had to be send for RMA. Then I had to wait 1 MONTH for the company to change 6990 (which they couldn't get) to 2x6970... Also my box with the PC inside was dammage. There was a hole sized of fist but computer wasn't damaged. I'm not sure if I would use their service again after all that I've been through. Also it was quite hard to get any information on my RMA. The only time they respond is when I sent them a message first. I'm happy with my system as it is for now but if I'll have to send it for RMA ever again, I will kill myself...

Um you keep spreading this everywhere, why? This thread is more about the service that Yodel provided, not the service from PCS. Yeah theres obviously the question about internal packaging, however the main focus of the thread is really about the Yodel delivery service in this instance.

To let this guy know that he's not alone with his problem and to show him how the RMA process with PC Specialists looks like.

As others have said, courier issue. No idea how mine was handled up until the delivery guy got it but he rang me to arrange redelivery as I wasn't home. Box was in mint condition as far as I could see.

I've had good and bad experiences with all of the major courier companies - RM, UPS, Parcelforce, DHL, HDNL, CityLink, DPD etc.

let's hope mine never breaks then! 2 months for a return honestly? that's appalling.

Why is 2 months appalling when they've decided to go with a GPU as rare as the Radeon 6990 or GTX 590? Both of those cards hardly have a hand full even being shipped into the UK as a whole, you're lucky PCS get their hands on any at all. It's been said in so many threads before now, those two cards are hard to get. So if yours breaks, it'll take forever to get replaced.

My RMA hasn't even reached the stage where they've started looking at replacement for the GPU so yes I think 2 months is quite appalling :)

Have you rung to find out why? Or are you relying on updates on your account?

And I don't think its a matter of starting to look for one, it's a matter of waiting for a shipment to come in.

I really dont think its appauling at all tbh, if you have a limited edition card liek the 590 or 6990 which has a world limited stock and whos stock level is never more than a handful at any time throughout the entire UK, you cant expect those cards to come in.

Now of course, you might expect a company to then offer a replacement deal where you have two other powerhouse cards instead, the problem with this is
1/ There is probably a reason you went for the dual gpu over single gpu, power consumption, noise level etc
2/ Two single GPU cards is more expensive, by quite a lot.

I can understand that people get frustrated waiting, but my advice when buying a computer in future, do a bit of research into lead times of different components, I knwo that if one of my GTX 580s were to break I could get a replacement within a week, I use my PC for my work and I made a judgement call that lead times on a 590 are too great and if for soem reason it broke I couldnt afford to have my business wait around till a new one became available. I made my decision knowing the facts, tbh you should have done the same, and if you have, then you should accept the consequences.

Sounds a bit harsh probably, but at the end fo the day you are the one who should be goin to PCS and asking them about possible alternatives.

OK well I have to say that I signed up on this forum about a week ago and know next to nothing about graphics card

But I for one would not choose a rare component,

I'm assuming GTX 560 Ti would be replaced instantly? As I see lots of different version on the internet which are readily available.

Anyway, to the 2 month dude, hope it gets sorted!

Tell me about it. The PS3 just doesn't cut it =/

Yeh I feel you on that one, I have a PS3 with loads of games but never feel like playing it, it isn't an adequate substitute to PC gaming in my opinion.

it will be sold or gather dust when my PC arrives.

I'm looking at three whole rows of PS3 games right now with no intention of playing them, and I can be satisfied playing a 90's RTS game on my PC.

There will be plenty of GTX 560's.

At the end of the day, it's a matter of supply and demand. There's a much higher demand for medium to highish specced GPU's, top spec GPU's are only bought by enthusiasts, which there are far less of then the general public.

A company will lose money to make high tech GPU's for them to not be sold, so again, supply and demand.
