My experience with DPD delivering my PCS PC (from their Dartford depot) was spot on.

I phoned them up at 08:40 as I was keen to get a delivery slot time ASAP, and the guy said the driver was just leaving the depot and he'd ask if he could make me his first drop.

At 08:50 I received a text advising a delivery slot between 08:59 and 09:59

At 09:04 the parcel was delivered, and not a scratch or mark on the box.

Very pleased with that.

Hi guys and gals

I was a a bit worried about the delivery, having read a lot of bad stories, but mine was excellent.
I received a text well in advance of my delivery time slot.

The time stated 14.55 to 15.55 with package arriving at 15.30.

Excellent service.

Regards

Mark

Amazing delivery for me, I wouldnt be in on delivery day and to change it all I had to do was send a text with the number 1 in it, parcel arrived in perfect condition the next day. DPD seems miles ahead of other couriers I have had the bad luck to use.

Best delivery service from a courier yet. Had a phone call about half an hour before delivery slot to make sure someone was available and then arrived well within the timescale.

My PC should hopefully be getting dispatched tomorrow!

But on a separate note regarding DPD, I had a bit of an issue with them today.

I'd ordered my monitor last friday (not from PCS, but delivered with DPD anyway) and paid the extra to make sure that it was delivered specifically today pre-12pm as I'm in uni for most of the week and today was the only day I could guarantee I'd be in to collect it.

Coincidentally, I had an amazon package also being delivered by DPD for today.
I got the text at about 8am saying my amazon parcel would be delivered between 2-3pm, but I wouldn't be in at that time so I sent the reply asking to move the delivery to tomorrow, and 10 minutes or so later I got the confirmation of change of delivery date.

Then about 20 minutes later I got the text telling me my monitor would be getting delivered between 10-11am (by a different driver); perfect! I'd definitely be in to receive it. So obviously I DIDN'T send a reply asking for rearrangement of delivery. However, about 30 minutes later I received the same confirmation of change of delivery as before; even though I didn't reply asking to change. Low-and behold; my monitor didn't show up!

As far as I'm aware, there's not a lot I can do about this really. But it's just a bit of advice to anyone ordering separate things both being delivered by DPD on the same day. They must just take your mobile number as like an "account" for you, regardless of the number of packages being delivered throughout the day, and assume if you want one redelivered, you want them all!

Another success for DPD the other in delivering my laptop. It's half a dozen packages I've had from them now, each one arriving within a few minutes of the start their delivery-hour.

No doubt my luck will run out eventually. No company is perfect :p

Over the last Month I've received quite a few things from DPD including stuff from PCS.

As per my previous post specifically referring to delivery of my PCS computer, the service I've received from DPD has been outstanding.

Last Week I ordered something that also came by DPD, but typically I wasn't going to be home during the 1 hour delivery slot they gave, so I chanced it and sent the text to deliver to a neighbour. Unfortunately the neighbour wasn't in either, so I re-arranged to enable me to collect from the Depot.

On visiting the depot (Dartford), every DPD employee that walked past asked if everything was OK and if I needed help, everyone was polite and friendly. Within minutes I'd been given my parcel and was on my way.

A couple of days later I bought something from Amazon for £30 and paid £7.99 for next day delivery. That also arrived by DPD.

So impressed, I decided I might start using DPD myself for sending stuff, but looking at their price list, next day delivery starts at £19.75 (which I assume includes VAT). So I wonder how the hell a business can make profit on a £30 product when £19.75 gets swallowed up in delivery charges?

Can someone (from PCS or DPD) confirm whether the standard pricing is set in stone or whether there's a pricing scale depending on volume of parcels sent out?

Some Years ago when I was using ParcelForce, the standard price was around £15 per Parcel but with my account and volume I was paying £5 per parcel. Do DPD do similar?

Well, I guess Amazon pay nothing like that. Their bargaining power in that market must be extreme.

I work for dpd and companies like amazon get charge about £2.00 per item. We mainly deal with major company's but you can use our sister company interlink express at http://www.interlinkdirect.co.uk/

The standard price is high but it drops alot lower depending how many parcels you are sending everyday. Average small company should pay about £4-£5 per parcel.

Hope that helps.

I was scared to death by dpd yesterday when my laptop got deliveredmin

I was exited to get my first laptop so I was checking the tracking every 10 min.
I buy alot of stuff online and I know every name of the people working in the mail room at my office.

I look at the tracker and it said it had been delivered, to DARREN. thats it. and i checked with everyone in the office, no darren in reception, security or the mail room.

I ring DPD and ask whats going on and they just say its been delivered to Darren. fyi my name is not Darren its Samuel.
I tell them there is no Darren in the office and I would really like to know where my delivery is.

They delivered it to the wrong office... took me about 40min total on the phone to sort everything out.
Finally got the delivery and the box was in perfect shape so no fault there.

I'm still waiting for my laptop from Dpd - they were meant to deliver it today between 10:10am-11:10am and they never even turned up, yet have the gall to claim they left a calling card saying they attempted delivery at 12pm (bear in mind I ordered for the £9 before noon thing). From the advanced tracking, they never even left Rushden before claiming they couldn't deliver it to my town in Kettering.

I'd give either PCS or DPD a call to see if you can find out whats going on, unfortunately every courier has issues like this at times, I'm impressed how they left a calling call saying they'd tried to deliver at 12 despite the fact its not even 12 yet :)

I would call DPD if only they actually had live support (they don't), and I would follow the calling card's instructions... if it was actually, you know, there (it isn't). I've tried email, so see how that goes, I guess...

If you can't contact DPD then I'd definitely give PCS a call, they should have a number that they can get through on

There's no point since the laptop is out of their hands now and in the 'care' of DPD. PCS wouldn't be able to do anything for me at this stage, they completed the laptop build for me quick (I paid the £69 fee as I'm going overseas for family matters next Thursday), but as soon as it comes to delivery, it goes to another company. *sigh*

-edit-

Following up on this, PCS have offered to refund the £9 delivery thing which didn't work out, and after googling, got Rushden depot number (01933 414645 if anyone needs it) and the lady thinks the delivery guy went to the wrong address... despite the package on advanced tracking saying it did not leave Rushden at all. Nevertheless, arranged for it to be sent on Monday for the anytime thing now, so please don't place bets that the delivery guy will "go to the wrong address" again. :3

I ordered an upgrade of ram yesterday and received it today,I was sent seven emails regarding the progress of the delivery. Then I got a message of the time it would arrive, between 3pm and 4pm,as I had to go out at that time I requested they deliver it to a neighbour, this was promptly agreed,I even received an email telling me the name of the neighbour and house number of where they delivered, service like that is hard to beat. :)

Won't the ram package fit through the letterbox, or is it "signed for" delivery?

vanthus, let me know if the extra ram seems to benefit you at all, as I believe I'm thinking of ordering the same ram as you.

Cheers.

Yes,It needs to be signed for,it was in quite a surprisingly large box though which wouldn't go through the letter box,I thought PCS had included a surprise for me, :)I'll let you know how it goes. :)

Had my PC delivered yesterday after numerous emails informing of the tracking number, what time it would be delivered and even the driver's name. I was told it would arrive between 9:50 and 10:50, it arrived at 9:50 bang on. The driver was friendly and courteous and even brought the box inside the house as it was a bit too bulky for the wife to carry.

First class service, very impressed and grateful.
