My order got despatched today at about 9am, do you think there would be any chance of it coming tomorrow?

If you ordered it with Saturday delivery yes (presuming you are in the mainland UK), if not then no I'm afraid not.

My DPD Review (PC to be delivered today):

Negative
I received a text just 15 minutes before the PC actually arrived which meant my parents couldn't get to my house on time. A 30 minute+ warning for the hour window would have been much appreciated.

Trying to actually speak to a human is almost impossible. The website says they will deliver tomorrow at any time between 7.30am and 7.30pm - that's a big ask to ask someone to 'sit in' for a 12 hours! (I'm a teacher so can't take day off). I also read that to pick the PC up from the depot I would have to wait until tomorrow after midday.

Positive

After finding a website (I'll post below for anyone else who may need it) which contains actual local phone numbers I was able to speak directly to the Newcastle depot almost immediately. They said I could pick up from the depot tonight. The man then rang the driver who has agreed to deliver to my house after 6pm tonight on his way home. What wonderful service! (well, as long as he shows up tonight!)

Bottom-line: The people at DPD are excellent; the automated premium phone numbers and actual lack of being able to speak to someone are abysmal.

Overall a (hopefully) very happy customer:)

Just remember if you are close to the depot you may get a text while the hour slot is due, as when the drivers unit is online it starts to send anything upto 100+ text message which can take a bit of time. so while his making his way to you i.e a 5 min drive or so he arrives before the text.

Either way having a 1 hour window is better then what any other courier can offer or may offer in 3 years or more.

if it states next day then no you wont. The depot I work at is sending parcels out due for monday on saturday for free as collections made on sat/sun come down on monday and go out for delivery with fridays collections. Just check the website to see if you have a confirmed at depot scan.

Received an email saying it'll be here Monday. I think they may be a slight chance of it coming tomorrow as its Leeds atm and I'm in Hull, so not far away.

Stevos I'm not sure what you mean mate?

Unless you paid for Saturday delivery (about 20quid if I remember rightly) they will not delivery it on a Saturday generally speaking.

Wednesday 11.12.12
I get email from DPD saying my delivery will arrive 12.12.12. I waited all of 12.12.12 for my parcel and DPD never turned up. Their automated line could not track the consignment or recognise my phone number. No email, text or phone call from DPD at all.

Thursday 12.12.12.
I got an email from DPD on 12.12.12 saying they would deliver between 15.06 and 16.06. I waited again ALL DAY seeing as the contents of the parcel were important for distribution to my customers … didn’t even dare go to ease myself in case DPD left before I could get to the door. At 1552, I go to check – seeing as there was only a few minutes to their deadline of 1606 – ONLY TO FIND A CARD signed at 1522. I was near tears … Nobody had knocked or rung the bell, the lights were on at the property and my car was on the drive. The DPD Driver had NOT made any effort to check that nobody was home before leaving a calling card.

I get on back on the phone to the Sender, who says they will get in touch with DPD and let me know. I reschedule delivery for 14.12.12 and this was confirmed by automated email and also by DPD customer service in another email which gave a delivery time frame of 0800 to 1800 but to expect an email or text message with the exact delivery hour slot. The sender also confirms this by email.

Friday 13.12.12
DPD is incommunicado. I email DPD and Sender after midday to say I had not received the delivery slot email or text promised for the morning. No response from either. Tracked on DPD site around 1500 only to find parcel never left the depot (same situation as the original 'no-show' delivery date of 12.12.12).
I was near tears yesterday? I cried today ... my heart actually physically aches ... My head aches. I am not crazy, I launched my business on Monday and have only missed one full week's worth of business because DPD just would not do what it was paid to do and ensured it wasted my precious time. I wake up at 3 am in the morning and don't sleep until 10pm, and usually need an hour's nap during the day, I have not had that 3 days running because I daren't shut eye in case I miss DPD ... I am tired, shattered , angry, hurt that a delivery company could treat parcel recipients like this . It is past 1800 - the delivery deadline for today - and DPD is still incommunicado.

Will the parcel arrive tomorrow Saturday or on Monday ?? That is the million dollar question that even DPD is unable to answer, going by its track record of promise and fail 3 days in a row.

My opinion of DPD: An irresponsible courier company, run by irresponsible people who use overworked and under-motivated employees and cares about nothing other than its profit. I will never use them or recommend them for use; and I will never purchase a product or service from any business that uses them. Never will I allow myself to be subjected to the DPD treatment ever again! DPD is utterly useless!

You could ring them up and ask them to collect from their warehouse, might be the best option for you.

@waiting 4dpd,

I get the idea that you aint ordered from PCS?

but anyway, like samwil says, just give dpd a call and see what the score is. Pickup may be an idea?

My experience with DPD was fine :) Yesterday. On Friday 14th

Was informed the whole way through at each stage

Was given a time slot of 12:23 - 13:23

Arrived at 13:10

The Main Box itself was HUGE...!!! 1 Person wouldn't of been able to carry that, if anyone lives in a block or a flat at the high levels I would feel for them, because I dont know how it would fit in a lift or be carried upstairs by 2 people let alone 1. Luckily im at the ground floor and I kept checking outside for the DPD Van and I quickly went and helped him as soon as he pulled up :) The top box did actually slide off and drop on the floor in the pouring rain, luckily that was just a keyboard and welcome pack I think. :sweatdrop: He asked me if it was just furniture :whistling:, I said no a very expensive PC, But he assured me it would be packed very well inside, which it was by PCS :)

LOOL :D

He probably thought mine was just a big square table or something, Its like a Xmas present, when something is wrapped up you have no idea whats inside or how much it costs. The stuff PCS put around the PC is very good quality though, not that other stuff that I used to play with when I was a kid and pretended it was Snow :D looool #If you get what stuff im talking about.

I'm contemplating ordering a laptop from PCS and the fact they use DPD as courier is a definite plus for me. I would be much less likely to buy from PCS if they still used Yodel. I've had consistently good experiences with DPD and consistently awful ones with Yodel. This is not a trivial consideration when ordering a piece of high-value, fragile kit such as a new laptop.

I got a text to say "Peter" would be delivering between 1609 and 1709, and I reckon he arrived at about 1635 - great service, excellent comms - very impressed (which makes a nice change, from the likes of other popular online stores!!)
