Even if it does work fine, you probably want to let PCS know (by phone or email) about the damage to the case, just so they have it on their records, in case you have to send it back for any other reason later on (RMA or upgrades).I haven't booted the computer up yet, but all the components look fine. I will boot it up this evening after work and if there any issues it may have to go back. Hopefully this isn't the case.
My DPD Review (PC to be delivered today):
Negative
I received a text just 15 minutes before the PC actually arrived which meant my parents couldn't get to my house on time. A 30 minute+ warning for the hour window would have been much appreciated.
Trying to actually speak to a human is almost impossible. The website says they will deliver tomorrow at any time between 7.30am and 7.30pm - that's a big ask to ask someone to 'sit in' for a 12 hours! (I'm a teacher so can't take day off). I also read that to pick the PC up from the depot I would have to wait until tomorrow after midday.
Positive
After finding a website (I'll post below for anyone else who may need it) which contains actual local phone numbers I was able to speak directly to the Newcastle depot almost immediately. They said I could pick up from the depot tonight. The man then rang the driver who has agreed to deliver to my house after 6pm tonight on his way home. What wonderful service! (well, as long as he shows up tonight!)
Bottom-line: The people at DPD are excellent; the automated premium phone numbers and actual lack of being able to speak to someone are abysmal.
Overall a (hopefully) very happy customer
In a way it's a shame re DPD as PCS said that this was THE reason that they can only deliver pc's to the countries listed.
I had to ship my pc to my mum, then ship it again to Prague via FedEx (was still worth it though).
A week later after being very happy with my new pc my boss asked me and a few other people to get the highest spec pc possible for 1000euros. I asked PCS and they said they can't do due to their courier. 20k/25k euros lost over a courier choice...
It's a bummer really cos i know a LOT of people taht now LOVE my pc and want one but won't cos they'll have to pay about an extra £140 to get it shipped here after going to a UK address.
It is a shame but you don't know how much money they could be potentially saving by using DPD instead of say FedEx. Plus DPD may have offered better terms in the contract compared to another company. It is a shame but perhaps PCS aren't ready to make that step to branch out to a large number of countries and maybe they're just trying to get their feet settled in the UK before they start looking in various European countries, etc. Build times are already long enough without adding more countries into the mix!
