Watch Dogs on PC

I'm assuming you have had different drivers between then and now?

Have you checked that graphics card is seated properly and everything is properly connected?

I slapped the settings up to ultra yesterday and played for a couple of hours with only a tiny bit of stuttering, mostly when driving. I must be one of the lucky ones.

As much as it was off to a ropey start I am enjoying the game. The story is good and does keep you interested (although I've only just completed Act I) I've been mostly doing the side missions etc. I've tried to invade other players too but I'm clearly terrible at it and keep dying so have no reputation. Not managed to get into an online race yet but I suspect I'll suck at that too as I don't really like the driving in the game.

Still, it is a good game.

I can't play on Ultra though :(.

No. I haven't done anything to the computer since I bought it in November last year.

I had them on Ultra for a while and noticed that it was stuttering when I was driving and chasing a car on the campaign. So turned the settings down a touch.

The first time I tried the Online Hacking, I found one person who didn't have a clue what they were doing. Hacked them straight away, the second time some hacked me, I chased them in a car, he crashed and then I shot him in his head at point blank range LOL.

After that I haven't been able to find the people hacking me, so I've turned the Online multiplayer off in the Options.

------------

I now have a glitch, and keep getting it, where I have no icons on my mini-map and it's doing my head in. I can't do missions/aim a gun properly, and I can't see where the enemy is via their icon. I've tried going back to the main menu then going back into the game and exiting the game and reloading to no effect.

I don't know what to do? Any suggestions?

Are you certain you're not mid-mission (ie is there a yellow icon on the mini-map)... I have been mid-mission and not realised it before

Nope. There just isn't an icon, like I said before I can't see the enemy icons either.

Other people on the internet has had the problem too.

The problem with the mini map just won't go away. I've tried altering Graphics seettings and nothing. The GPU is seated fine and there's no lose plugs.

I don't know what to do. I've also had the colourful screen again and had to reset computer.

Can't play on ultra with quad 690's...wow....just goes to show how random it is, for whether it works or not. Have you tried 1 card? Might be SLI...I only got 10-20 more FPS but it was way more unstable.

I had the multi-coloured screen last night and this morning.

Once the router went off, I reloaded the game and the mini-map was working. But today, even though the router was off, it wasn't.

What does 'verifying the files' on Uplay do?

Maybe I could begin a new game or uninstall and reinstall the game and see if that fixes the problem?

Verifying files is basically checking that the files you have are all 100% valid. It is a common problem for just a couple of 'bits' to be incorrect and could potentially break everything.

Yeah, must admit I've not tried with only one card etc. The game is running a wee bitty smoother now (somehow?) but obviously not on Ultra - it does run on 'auto' settings though and looks good so I'm happy enough.

Does these issues only occur on Watch Dogs? Seems unlikely to be a hardware issue if it is only Watch Dogs when they occur.
Verifying the files on uplay I suspect is the same as verifying integrity of game cache on Steam (ie checks all the files are there and are not corrupt etc.) not 100% but that's what I'm guessing.
EDIT: Wozza got there first, but it seems as though we agree!

Reinstalling the game might be a worthy option, but try the verifying thing first see if that helps.

I carried out the verifying yesterday but made no difference.

Watch Dogs wasn't the only game the multi-coloured screen came on. I can't remember what other game it appeared on.

Is it safe to delete the game off the computer and reinstall it? Will I have to put the code in? I deleted Sim City off the computer and I couldn't use the same code. I don't want to uninstall Watch' again to find out that I can't reinstall it

As far as I know once you've activated the game you should be able to delete it and re download it through uplay as often as you like. Is there not an option on uplay itself to delete local content (or similar, that's what its called on steam). I wouldn't have thought you need to enter your code again as you must have already done so to activate the game in the first place on uplay.

Does that mean you can't play SimCity anymore?

The game is tied to your Uplay account, you can download it as many times as you wish on as many machines as you wish. You just can't play them all at once.

Yep that's correct. I'm not able to play SimCity any more. I think I deleted UPlay at some point as well.

There's an option on UPlay to uninstall Watch Dogs.

Edit: I might just uninstall it. I can't get bored of the game because it's the best game I've played this year!!

I appreciate this isn't your concern at the minute - but you should get that sorted! There is no reason why you can't uninstall and reinstall the game - does it not let you do it through uplay?
